Canada took the first option when they clashed with England in the 1979 World Cup.

They took their time and batted for a 40.3 overs before crawling to 45 all out, with Franklyn Dennis top scoring with 21 from 99 balls.

Fast bowler Bob Willis ended with fantastic figures of 10.3-3-11-4 while Chris Old took 4-8 from 10 overs.

The chase was a mere formality for England as they reached the target in the 14th over, with more than 45 overs to spare.

Canada’s score remains the second lowest total in World Cup history.
