  • Strict supervision: Drivers are monitored throughout their sessions on the track.

The scorching temperatures has not stopped the activities at Dubai Autodrome who are holding their popular Track Days this month.

Open to advanced riders and drivers, you can experience how fast your vehicle goes without the constraints, restrictions and invariable risks that you would find on a public road at Dubai Autodrome on Friday, July 31.

Drivers or riders who want to hit the track must either be in possession of a full driving licence and taken part in a novice track day at Dubai Autodrome, hold a current competitions licence or show proof of a confirmation letter stating you have participated in track days at other motor clubs.

Drivers will drive around the 4.29km international circuit, while the riders will tackle the 3.56km national circuit.

The Track Days encourages drivers to push their vehicles in a secure environment.

Since opening in 2004, the programme has gone from strength to strength and have seen hundreds of participants hit the track, which has hosted the NGK Racing Series, Hanook 24 Hours and the UAE Sportbike Championship.

“Out of all our events open to the public, without doubt the Track Days are hugely popular,” said Paul Velasco, communications manager at Dubai Autodrome.

“There is a real vibrant atmosphere at the Dubai Autodrome because people are really enjoying themselves at a top circuit venue.

“I think what makes the Track Days so popular is that it’s not about racing at all. It’s completely the opposite of that. It allows drivers and riders to see how good and fast their vehicles can go in a controlled environment.”

While Velasco promises it will be a thrilling experience, drivers and riders will have to adhere to rules.

    – #360view: Spieth keeping it simple in pursuit of third major

    – Going Out: OSN Sports to broadcast boxing reality show

“Safety is extremely important for us and there will be manned marshals as well as CCTV on all corners. They will be put in different groups and go out on the track for four 15-minute sessions.”

Riders must wear full leathers and boots with compulsory measures on all bikes to have front facing light and must be fastly secured to the front for the motorcycle. And wearing a helmet, which can be hired for Dh50, is also mandatory, while all vehicles must be road worthy.

“People will like the adrenaline and when you drive on this motor track it’s an experience they will remember for a long time. It’s no big surprise to me when people return to take part in the Track Days," said Velasco.
