    Emilio Butragueno: Butragueno was a prolific goalscorer for Real Madrid during the 1980’s and 90’s, helping the club to six La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey’s.

    Celebrating his 52nd birthday, the Vulture swooped to net 171 goals in 463 games for Los Blancos during a 12-year career at the Bernabeu, during which he also won back-to-back UEFA Cups.

    He has 69 Spain caps, scoring 26 goals, and appeared at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups. He finished as joint second top scorer in Mexico with five goals, which included four in a 5-1 routing of Denmark in the last 16.

    Butragueño is Real’s joint eighth highest scorer of all time and was a member of the legendary Quinta del Buitre, alongside Manolo Sanchís, Rafael Martín Vázquez, Míchel and Miguel Pardeza. His ties with the club remain attached, having acted as vice president and director of football.

    Stewart Downing: The West Ham and England winger turns 31. 

    Lasse Viren: The Finnish former long-distance runner who won four Olympic gold medals in 1972 and 1976, turns 66 today.
