    The American pugilist, nicknamed ‘Sugar’, recently came out of retirement to defeat Ricardo Mayorga in a grudge match.

    Mosley, who turns 44 today, was at one time considered the top boxer in the world, holding world titles in three weight divisions: IBF lightweight, WBC and WBA welterweight, and WBC, WBA and The Ring magazine light middleweight.

    He was named the ‘Fighter of the Year’ in 1998 by the Boxing Writers Association of America and later named best pound-for-pound fighter by The Ring in 2000 and 2001.

    Mosley has stepped in the ring to face some of the biggest names in the sport, fighting Oscar De La Hoya twice, Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao.

    His current record stands at 48 wins (40 KO), nine losses, one draw and one no contest.

    1968: Marcel Desailly, French ex-footballer. Played for Milan and Chelsea. Won the World Cup with France (47).

    1980: Gabriel Milito, former Barcelona centre back. Earned 42 caps with Argentina (35).

    1984: Vera Zvonareva, Russian former world No2 tennis player. Made Wimbledon and US Open finals in 2010 (31).

    1988: Kevin Love, American NBA player, who is a centre/ forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers (27).
