  • [L-R] Schneider, Rutherford, Spofforth.

The ginger ace has established himself as the best long-jumper in the world.

Rutherford, who turns 29 today, won the long jump gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2014 European Athletics Championships and 2015 World Athletics Championships, and topped the 2015 IAAF Diamond League rankings in the event.

From 4 September 2015, when his Diamond League victory was confirmed with a fourth event win in Zurich, Rutherford held every available elite outdoor title, including his national title. Rutherford is the current British record holder for this event with his personal best of 8.51 m.

Rutherford was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to athletics. You get the feeling there are still more medals and awards to come.
