  • Undefeated: Miami.

The Dolphins’ 17-0-0 season culminated with a 14-7 victory over the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII and it is a unique feat that has stood the test of time.

Will there ever be another perfect season? Every year that passes makes the remarkable record seem less and less likely to be matched.

Under legendary coach Don Shula’s the young Dolphins team gelled into a cohesive unit and the last serious challenger was the 2007 New England Patriots who finished the regular season with a 16-0 mark.

The Pats added two playoff wins and entered Super Bowl XLII undefeated. But, the quest for the perfect 19-0 season fell just short as they lost 17-14 to the New York Giants in a thriller.

1967: Wilt Chamberlain of the Philadelphia 76ers scores a monster 68 points against the Chicago Bulls.

1989: Commencement of the first Test match at Bellerive Oval, Hobart between Australia and Sri Lanka.

2012: Rafael Benitez fails to win his first trophy as Chelsea manager as his side are beaten by Brazilian club Corinthians 1-0 as a Paolo Guerrero header sealed their FIFA Club World Cup crown.

2013: The 79th Heisman Trophy Award goes to Florida State’s quarterback Jameis Winston.
