Jiu-Jitsu masters showcasing their talent across Abu Dhabi

  • Building a following: Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts are increasingly popular in the UAE capital.

    The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is less than two weeks away, and to help promote the tournament, interactive demonstrations will take place in two major tourist spots in the UAE capital this weekend.

    Today (Thursday) Al Wahda Mall and Abu Dhabi Corniche-East Plaza (Friday and Saturday) will host the demonstrations between 18:00 and 20:00.

    Through these demonstrations, members of the public will be able to understand more about the sport, how it works and why it is becoming increasingly popular.

    Spectators will also be able to meet the official UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation mascot, Azzam, on these days.

    People will get a chance to win a number of prizes ahead of the championship, thanks to an all-new ‘spotted #WithAzzam’ photo competition. If you spot Azzam, give him a shout and take a picture with him and you could be in with a chance to win some cool prizes!

    The ones with the most likes or most people in the frame win.This isn’t the first time these demonstrations have taken place. Al Wahda Mall (March 28 and 29), Corniche (March 25 and 31) and Marina Mall (March 27) have staged demonstrations in the past which were a huge success.

    Attending the demonstrations might even convince you to attend the championship from April 15-19.

    Some of the world’s best will descend on the UAE capital for the four-day competition at the all-new First Gulf Bank Arena at Zayed Sports City.

    The UAE’s Faisal Al Ketbi will be among the participants representing the host country with an eye on winning a gold medal.
