Official jerseys unveiled for the Dubai Tour cycle race

  • Colourful event: The four race jerseys design by Versace are revealed in Dubai.

    The four official jerseys of the upcoming four-stage Dubai Tour, along with the cycling event’s “Circle of Stars” trophy were unveiled on Tuesday at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City.

    The country’s first ever professional cycling race will kick off the UCI Asia Tour from February 5 to 8 where some of the world’s top cyclists and teams will compete.

    The four race jerseys, designed by the famous fashion house Versace and produced by Castelli, will be worn by the leaders of each race classification.

    The General Classification (GC) leader will wear a blue jersey, the Points Classification Leader will don red, the Best Young Rider Classification Leader will be awarded white while the special Intermediate Sprint Classification Leader will wear a jersey sporting the colours of the UAE flag – white, red, green and black.

    Huraiz Bin Huraiz, the Dubai Tour tournament director said: “The Pink Jersey of the Girod’ Italia, the Yellow Jersey of the Tour de France and the Red Jersey of the Vuelta a Espana are sports symbols that transcend national borders and years.

    From 2014 there will be another jersey gaining the attention of world – the RTA Blue Jersey of the Dubai Tour winner.

    This jersey will become an immortal symbol in the history of Dubai and of international sport.”

    Reigning world road champion Rui Costa, Mark Cavendish and Swiss time trial expert Fabian Cancellara will compete in the race
