  • New link-up: GMC are the Official Transport of the EAFL.

In an all-American partnership, the burgeoning Emirates American Football League (EAFL) have agreed a sponsorship deal with transport giants GMC.

The deal – that lasts until July 2014 – will give the EAFL access to five brand new 2014 GMC Sierra Light Duty full-size pickups, making transporting equipment between away games a whole lot easier for the four teams.

The EAFL, which was founded in 2012, is enjoying a sharp rise in popularity both in participation numbers and attending audiences since its highly successful debut season.

And the new partnership with GMC is the latest demonstration of American Football's rapid growth in the UAE.

“We are very proud to be working with GMC and couldn't ask for a better partner,” EAFL General Manager Dustin Cherniawski said.

“The enthusiasm and support they show for the EAFL demonstrates that they truly understand community sports and how they can help develop grass roots programs.

“Providing a fleet of 2014 Sierra trucks has allowed us to put on a better event for our athletes and fans by giving us the towing capacity we desperately needed on game day. We can't thank them enough for coming through for American football."

The EAFL was set up as a community-focused league that offers people in the UAE a chance to experience full contact American Football, catering to all skill levels.

The league places an enormous importance on safety in the game and it is this shared view on safety that makes the deal with GMC so fitting, according to GMC’s Middle East Brand Manager Nadim Ghrayeb.

“The Emirates American Football League offers full-contact American Football in the UAE for players – both beginners and experienced – in a safe environment,” Ghrayeb said.

“In parallel, the all-new 2014 GMC Sierra sets an important benchmark for pickup safety and refinement. Our partnership is based on a shared leadership vision that places safety at the forefront of everything we do – making this collaboration a truly ideal fit.”

The EAFL is currently on a winter break, with competitive action set to resume on January 10.
