  • His defending EAFL champion Dubai Barracudas were torched 25-6 in the capital on Friday night, a result that gave the Wildcats a fourth straight win.

In contrast the Cudas sit bottom of the pile after an underwhelming defence of their 2015/16 title following three defeats and just one victory.

Jordan thinks Tony Robinson’s Wildcats will take some stopping with the Desert Bowl scheduled for March 17, although he feels a rejuvenated Al Ain Desert Foxes, who the Cudas visit this Friday, could offer a serious challenge.

“They’re the best team in the league right now,” Jordan said of the 4-0 Wildcats.

“They’re playing consistently really good football. Their lines blocking well, their running backs run hard and you have to have five or six guys tackling at once. Hats off to them, they play good football

“Right now they’re the best and you want to test yourself against the best. But the Desert Foxes are playing really good football and we’re going to have another challenge on our hands next week and we’re not looking past them.

The scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story of Friday’s game. Running back Luke Norrey was impressive on both sides of the ball and the Cudas were always in the contest until late in the second half.

The difference was Abu Dhabi were ruthless when they got a sniff of the Cudas’ endzone, but the visitors did exhibit signs that they could still put up a fight to retain their title come the playoffs and the business end of the season in March.

And Jordan is certainly not throwing in the towel.

“We just want to keep getting better each game and even though we took lumps (on Friday) I felt like we took steps forwards,” said Jordan.

“Even when you play your best things don’t turn out the way you want and I think (Friday) was one of those days.

“They did a lot of things really well and hats off they were the better team. But I feel if we get another shot at them it will be a tight ball game. The scoreline doesn’t show it was tight but we’ve got a lot to look forward to and a lot to take from this game. I’d love another crack at them.”
