  • Force of nature: Forjatt.

Jebel Ali’s meeting yesterday was the season-finale at the ever popular UAE venue and, perhaps fittingly, the featured 1,800m conditions race went to Forjatt, trained on the track by Dhruba Selvartanam for racecourse patron, Sheikh Ahmed.

Winner of the 2014 Group 3 Jebel Ali Mile, Forjatt was actually first past the post in the same race in 2015, but subsequently disqualified.

Forjatt won the Listed National Day Cup at Abu Dhabi, also over 1,600m, in December and has run well in two defeats since that win. His jockey, Chis Hayes, said: “I have always maintained this extra 200m would really suit him so I am delighted he has won today.

“This horse is just so honest and genuine he is a real pleasure to be associated with. He is the type of horse you wish there were 12 or 15 of in the yard; talented and genuine.”

The final contest of the Jebel Ali season, a 1,200m conditions event, was won by the, historically at least, class performer in action on the card, Krypton Factor, who made all under Wayne Smith.

Owned and trained by Bahraini Fawzi Nass, Krypton Factor won the Group 1 Golden Shaheen on World Cup night in 2012 but had only been successful once since.
