  • Racing to victory: James Doyle atop Forjatt.

The Group 3 Jebel Ali Mile was won by the Dhruba Selvaratnam-trained Forjatt.

Stable jockey James Doyle said: “The hose deserves that; with a bit more luck we would have won the National Day Cup and we had to give Colmar Kid weight two weeks ago.”

Colmar Kid’s trainer Musabah Al Muhairi may have been denied in the feature, but still managed a treble on the six race card.

Godolphin jockey Silvestre De Sousa was aboard Damar who made a winning debut in the opening 1,400m maiden, the same course and distance as stable companion Kanaf won a conditions race.

The trainer’s third winner, Daar Rashid, lost his maiden tag when winning a 1,200m handicap. Doug Watson saddled the other two winners, with Pat Dobbs riding both winners.

Stable companions Henry Clay and Hacienda fought out a thrilling finish in a 1,800m handicap with Dobbs trying to make all on Henry Clay, only to be headed by Hacienda, before fighting back to lead in the dying strides.
