  • Conditions suit: Blue Tiger’s Eye is fancied for more success.

The only Thoroughbred race at Abu Dhabi on Sunday evening, the final race on the card, is a 2200m handicap featuring a clash between two horses who have already tasted success during the early part of the season.

Blue Tiger’s Eye was a course and distance winner two weeks ago for Ahmad bin Harmash when providing new stable jockey, Freddy Tylicki, his first victory in the UAE.

Tylicki said: “He won well last time and remains in good form at home. We had a nice low draw on that occasion and do again here so, hopefully, we will be very competitive in conditions which suit.”

    – Sharjah: Alawi and Ffrench capture second victory
    – Jebel Ali: Sheikh Hamdan charges dominate the card

Mutual Force and Wintergreen, second and third behind Blue Tiger’s Eye a fortnight ago, will bid to reverse the form with the latter perhaps the most likely to do so.

His trainer, Ismail Mohammed, enjoyed a double at Meydan on Thursday when stable jockey, Wayne Smith, was sadly suspended.

Smith is back in action, choosing to ride Wintergreen ahead of stable companion, Counterglow, a nice spare ride for Chris Hayes who won on the trainer’s Respect Me on Thursday.

Smith said: “The horses are going well and both ours have a chance.

“Wintergreen seems to save his best for Abu Dhabi and has the advantage of a run already this season, whereas Counterglow has been off since April.”

Ali Rashid Al Raihe has made a bright start to the season and Mutual Force should not be far away under Tadhg O’Shea.

The horse proved this trip is within compass last time and on the revised terms should get closer to Blue Tiger’s Eye.

The very first winner of the past two seasons has been Mizbah, winner of the same 1950m Jebel Ali handicap in each of the last two years.

Doug Watson, also in double form at Meydan, switches him to turf for the first time. This will be his tenth outing for Watson and stable jockey, Pat Dobbs.
