  • [L-R]: Mourinho, Gretzky, Sagan.

Arguably hockey’s greatest player, turns 55 today. Gretzky played for the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and the New York Rangers during his long and storied career.

He is the only man worthy of the nickname “The Great One” and his startling statistics more than back that up.

He is the leading scorer in NHL history, with more goals and more assists than any other player. He scored more assists than any other player scored total points, and is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times.

In addition, he tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999, he held 61 NHL records: 40 regular-season records, 15 playoff records, and six All-Star records. As of this year, he still holds 60 NHL records.

1963: Jose Mourinho, former Chelsea, Porto, Inter and Real Madrid. Winner of two Champions League titles (53).

1977: Vince Carter, veteran shooting guard and small forward for the Memphis Grizzlies (39).

1990: Peter Sagan, Slovak road racer for Tinkoff-Saxo who was world road race champion in 2015 (26).

1993: Florian Thauvin, Newcastle and France U-21 international winger (23).
