  • It was an historic moment in MLB history.

    The longest game in MLB history was thus played, with Sox finally winning 7-6 in the 25th inning after an eight hours and six minutes battle.

    The game was halted at 01:00 that night with the score tied at 3-3, before a Harold Baines solo home run in the 25th inning ended the game.

    It beat the previous record of seven hours and 23 minutes, set during a Giants v Mets game on 31st May 1964.

    Giants won that match 8-6 in 23 innings.
