Their Ramadan Corporate and Summer Basketball leagues get under way on June 7 and June 8, respectively and there’s still time to sign up.
Running over nine weeks until August 3, their summer event will see competitive-standard players take to the court every Wednesday between 19:00 and 22:30 at GEMS Wellington Academy, Al Khail.
Their popular five-week Ramadan Corporate league will be held at Dubai Sports World every Tuesday, with the top two teams advancing to the final.
As the UAE’s biggest sport and social club with over 5,000 members, Duplays knows a thing or two about organising leagues and tournaments.
Their portfolio includes volleyball, football and badminton and it’s no surprise that basketball has been a huge success, given it’s widely played in the country.
“Basketball is one of our most popular sports on the Duplays schedule,” said Kris Belen, Duplays league administrator.

“Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, the sport continues and this summer when the temperature is now increasing, is no different. The previous times we’ve held basketball leagues, they’ve been really popular and the players have really enjoyed them. The corporate league is a really good way to relax after work and it’s a great way for people to improve their working relationship.”
All matches follow the regular FIBA rules with games lasting 40 minutes. Team entry fees for the Summer league is Dh3,500, while it’s Dh1,750 for the Ramadan Corporate competition. Players must be at least 18 and over.

“It will be a great occasion and will provide plenty of fun matches,” she said. “We want to play our part in promoting sport and basketball is really popular in the UAE and if you’ve never tried it, now’s the best time to try. Not only will it keep you active, but you can also meet new people.”
