  • Exeter stunned United at Old Trafford.

On this day 12 years ago, non-league Exeter showed there was still magic in the FA Cup as they held holders Manchester United to a stunning 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

Before a ball was even kicked, Exeter were not given a chance considering United won their last six matches.

But after Sir Alex Ferguson made a number of changes, the visitors sensed belief and gave the Red Devils a torrid time.

Former United apprentice Andy Taylor tested Tim Howard on a number of occasions while Dean Moxley went close.

It saw Ferguson bring on Cristiano Ronaldo but even he could not break down Exeter’s stern defence in the 90 minutes. United went on to win the replay 2-0.

1938: Donald Bradman scores 107 runs for South Australia against Queensland.

1973: Greg Chappell takes his best Test figures of 5 for 61 in the first innings against Pakistan.

1993: NBA legend Michael Jordan scores his 20,000th point in Chicago Bulls’ 120-95 win over the Bucks.

2008: Joe Gibbs retires for the second time as head coach of NFL team Washington.
