  • On a roll: A mixed league for men and women is held every Monday night.

Get the ball rolling on summer activities by escaping the heat and filling the cool lanes of Dubai Bowling Centre.

Located at Al Quoz, the spacious recreation centre spans over 7,000 square feet and has everything for bowling enthusiasts.

It’s equipped with 24 professional series bowling lanes boasting LCD screen scoring systems. It’s kid-friendly as well, offering eight lanes with bumpers upon request for younger or inexperienced players.

But the centre isn’t just for those interested in bowling. The venue also features an arcade, a playroom, the Fiesta Zone café restaurant and a party room for birthdays, making it a fun experience for people of all ages.

“It’s not just plain bowling here,” said Maggie Archangel, events and league manager at the centre. “We also have other amenities like the play area, the table tennis, the billiards and the video games. It’s not just a typical bowling centre. You have something else to do here aside from bowling.”

Of course, the centre caters to hard-core bowlers as well, hosting two leagues and a tournament.

A mixed league for men and women runs every Monday night and usually consists of 20 teams with five players on each side. After a break during Ramadan, the mixed league will start again in the first week of September.

There is also a ladies league that bowls every Wednesday morning with four players per team. That league will also resume in September.

The centre’s flagship tournament – the No-Tap Tournament – runs every Ramadan and is a single-bowler event. It brings bowlers from all over Dubai as well from over the GCC such as Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Archangel said they’re also in the process of creating a new, month-long doubles event with two players on a team.

One of the more popular experiences Dubai Bowling Centre offers is Cosmic Night every Thursday and Friday evening from around 21:00 to close. It’s a chance for a unique kind of bowling in a festive environment.

“We turn off the normal lights and put on the cosmic lights, the dim lights. Loud music is there and people will have the chance to dance while bowling. We have some laser shows. People are really coming and enjoying this,” said Archangel.

Rates to bowl are Dh17 for a game per person and Dh90 every hour per lane from Sunday to Wednesday from 10:00 to 18:00. After 18:00, it’s Dh20 per person and Dh110 per hour. On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and public holidays, the first hour is Dh135 and the next hour is Dh110, including Dh25 per person from 10:00 to 18:00 and Dh30 after 18:00.
