The first ever night fun run with UV paint and neon colours will hit the UAE this weekend in the form of the NeoRun.
To be held at Dubai Autodrome Friday, the venue will be taken over by around 3,000 runners who will light up the night with a kaleidoscope of colours.
Participants will experience bright race attractions and ‘glo zones’ on the 5km course before joining the Enigma Party at the finish line, which will be hosted by Radio 1 DJs.
“NeoRun is the perfect opportunity for you and your friends to take your creativity to the next level and outshine each other,” event architect Ayzo Yodgarova said.
“Cool and bright colourful kickers, sneakers, Converse and Vans, whatever is comfortable to run and glow.
“If you show up wearing black sweat pants and a baggy black t-shirt then we will assume you are at the wrong event so dress up and stand out because this is the place to glow.”
— NEORUN™ (@TheNeoRun) April 8, 2015
Similar to other fun runs, NeoRun is less about competing in a race or improving on your 5km time, and more about taking in the sights and sounds while enjoying the unique experience.
“NeoRun is definitely the place to have fun, but if you want to challenge and time yourself during the event, go for it,” Yodgarova said.
“If you want to run in between the zones and walk through the zone itself, go for it. If you feel like you want to snail around, you can go slow as long as you glow. For runners, dancers and fun-lovers, it is a chance to be part of the wildest NeoRun!”
There will be 10 glo zones spread throughout the course, each offering different attractions.
First on the track are the wacky waving dancers, who will greet runners on each side of the track standing 20.8 metres tall.
Further on, the Rapid Fire zone will feature five stage flamethrowers shooting sequences of 8m tall colourful flames. In the Cube Pass, runners will pass through an area illuminated by glow-in-the-dark cubes.
Next will be Bubble Trouble, a 7m wide, 20m long tent filled with bubbles and blasting music.
The Sky Light Road will light up 400m of the track with LED-lit pillars on each side, along with 20 skytracker lights.
The Neo DJ Zone will ramp up the dancing before the Laser Tunnel, in which runners will enter a 20m long, 7m, wide inflatable tent full of haze and colourful lasers.
At Rainbow Kick, the track will have rainbow coloured LED-lit arches – the quiet before the craziness ensues.

Runners will be hit with paint guns in Ambush Alley, creating a colourful crowd for the party at the end of the race.
The Danger Zone will have a 60m path with flashing strobe lights leading up to the finish line.
Anyone over the age of 10 is welcome to be a part of the run. Tickets cost Dh165 and will be available up to the day on tickets.virginmegastore.me or www.platinumlist.net, as well as at the door.
Included in the registration fee is a ‘mind glowing’ kit, complete with a special edition NeoRun t-shirt, a neo bib with your personalised running number, a flash band, goggles and a neo sabre to light up the night.
The stage is set and the polo players from both UAE and abroad are ready to battle it out amidst the spectacular setup that plays host to this year’s final polo event of the season, taking place at Skydive Dubai.
The two day event, taking place this Friday 10th and Saturday 11th April will see polo players, enthusiasts, guests from abroad, the media and residents of the UAE, converge to attend and watch this unique sport being played in an exhilarating backdrop of sheer elegance and style.
Speaking about this year’s event, Sam Katiela said: “this year is a very special year for us as the event is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum and this means so much to us. His patronage is a confirmation that we can do these kind of events here in Dubai and that we have the infrastructure, technical skills, knowhow and most importantly, the will power to host such an extravagant sporting event that has gone global right here from Dubai”.
Each team will have three players with this year’s tournament providing a mix of UAE and international players participating. This year there are three players from the UAE being Saoud Khoory, who has been playing polo since the age of 14 and Tariq and Rashid Albwardy, sons of Mr. Ali Albwardy, one of the world’s biggest polo patrons & owner of the Desert Palm Polo Club.
Saoud is playing for Team Autism Rocks, Tariq will be playing for Team Cadillac (Middle East) and Rashid will play for returning and defending champions Team VistaJet and Bombardier. On the international front players participating will be from Argentina, Switzerland and UK.
