Tomorrow (Friday) from 13:00 at Dubai Kartdrome, individuals can experience what it feels like to bungee jump from 90 metres high as part of its Extreme 300 event with fun, family entertainment also on the agenda.

But to ensure you don’t miss out on the “mind-blowing” jump experience, make sure you sign up online before 21:00 today (Thursday).

Participants must be aged between 14 and 50, while entry costs Dh450. To register, visit www.gravityzone.co

Since opening in 2012, Gravity Zone has proven a real hit by bringing an adrenaline filled and awe inspiring adventure to thousands of people, making it one of the most popular attractions in the country.

While you may think it’s not for the faint-hearted, Ramez Shawky, managing director of Gravity Zone, insists it’s open to those with or without bungee jumping experience.

Adrenaline-fuelled adventure: Those with or without bungee jumping experience are invited to have a go.

“If people are looking for a new challenge, looking to get rid of their fear of heights, or for those who have never done it before, then this challenge is for them,” he said.

“For some,  it could even be for our frequent customers who are looking for something new or for something different.”

He added: “Normally our jump height distances are 50 metres but this time we have decided to extend the height to 90 metres.

“Fifty metres is the basic height and it’s popular worldwide and the next highest distance is 90metres, according to the industry standards.

“Since Gravity Zone was opened three years ago, we’ve conducted over 7,000 jumps and now is a logical time for us to take the level a notch up.”

With plenty of attractions in the UAE, Shawky feels bungee jumping offers something “unique”.

“It’s a different kind of entertainment that you don’t find in the UAE,” he said.

“Bungee jumping is a bit of a challenge and unique and if people are looking for something new to do in town or looking for a different challenge then this is one worth doing.

“Overall, I would describe the jump as an adrenaline rush. It is totally unbelievable.

“For sure, people will be lost for words when they complete the jump.

“The freefall for a few seconds is similar to flying in the air for a few seconds and it’s an experience that they will remember.”

While an absence of fear of heights is helpful, jumpers do not need to have any previous experience as all technical and safety aspects of the bungee will be
explained prior to the scheduled jumps by the Gravity Zone team.

Feel your adrenaline surge.

Shawky added: “Safety is paramount for us and for those who do the bungee jump can be sure they are in safe hands.”

The bungee jump will be the main attraction, however, there is plenty more entertainment on offer.

A velcro inflatable wall provided by Aquafun is one children will definitely enjoy and that will be situated in the kids play zone, while there will be on-site fitness
assessments by Fidelity Fitness and healthy nutritional advice from Organigrowth.

All profits from the day will be donated to Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP), who will use the funds to provide financial support, guidance, and various other types of assistance to needy cancer patients and their families throughout the UAE.

It promises to be a great day out for families and friends and Shawky is adamant it’s not one to be missed.

“There will be plenty of activities and things to do for the family, so it will make a great day out,” he said.

Making its inaugural appearance in the country, courtesy of the UEFA Champions League experience, ‘Ol’ Big Ears’ will be on view in a concept store and dining destination that is set to open in Yas Mall in June.

An exciting new offering from Marka Hospitality, part of Marka PJSC, the concept-store is the first in the world dedicated to the Champions League.

The store will feature a restaurant where patrons can enjoy dishes served in a stadium-inspired setting designed to replicate the atmosphere of the Champions League, while watching live matches as well as highlights and archive footage of classic European matches on giant screens.

Fans visiting the UEFA Champions League Experience will be able to buy merchandise from top European football clubs taking part in the elite competition.

There will also be a museum where football devotees can learn more about their favourite teams and players.

The May 1-2 UEFA Champions League Experience pre-opening event will give fans the chance to have their photos taken with the Champions League trophy.

Additional exciting UEFA Champions League related activities have been scheduled to take place over the two days, including the appearance of two of the world’s top football freestylers, Andrew Henderson and John Farnworth.

If one was not enough, another iconic trophy arrives today (Thursday) in the form of Rugby World Cup prize the Webb Ellis Cup, thanks to Emirates, a global connector of people and their sporting passions.

The trophy will start its tour of Dubai with a visit to ‘92 Breakfast with Catboy & Aylissa’ on Dubai 92, where a competition to find one lucky teenager to carry a national flag out onto the pitch at the first semi-final at Twickenham, will be launched.

It will then travel to the Emirates Official Store at the Dubai Mall, where residents and visitors can view the famous trophy up close between 16:00-19:00.

Future looks bright: U12 Al Wasl v Al Shabab.

It’s a big weekend ahead for two of E-Sports Football Academy teams with the Under-10s and Under-12s in action in the UAE Youth Pro League.

The two EFA elite squads are participating in the Pro League play-offs, with the U10s playing Al Wasl and the U12s taking on Al Shabab, who are both part of the UAE Professional League.

“This is our second season playing in the Pro League and can comfortably say that this is the highest level of youth football played in the region,” said EFA director Terry Kidd.

“The professional administration and organisation on match days is an experience that all youth players strive for and one that will continue to provide a competitive platform with learning experiences along the way.

“Ultimately we want our players to learn and develop their game in a challenging environment where results are not a focus.

“Results will simply be a consequence of the application towards training and games, which we are absolutely delighted with this season as we review the 2014-15 campaign.”

The playoff finals will be held on Saturday, May 2.

The playoff finals will be held on Saturday, May 2, at Al Ahli Club and Al Shabab Club, with EFA’s game against Al Wasl kicking off at 16:00 and the EFA match against Shabab at 16:30.

Both games are of huge status in youth football across Dubai and will be a celebration for EFA for the achievements by both squads this season.

“As the first and only expat football academy to participate in the Pro League, it is our privilege and we feel that EFA can and will continue to add quality to the standard of the league for many more years to come with more age groups representing EFA in the league,” said Kidd.

EFA have continued to further develop their professional status by working closely with the UAE FA as a grassroots football partner and consultant which is a very positive step for the academy and an affiliation that will continue to elevate the program for all EFA aspiring footballers.

Kidd saidf EFA have successfully paved collegiate and professional pathways for their players and will continue to work hard and provide successful outcomes and opportunities for years to come.
