  • Best netball league in Dubai: The tournament is a fantastic way to keep fit.

Duplays are holding their Netball Ramadan Cup next month with team registrations still open.

    – Friday Night Live at Dubai Sports City all set to kick off

Taking place at Emirates International School, Jumeirah in Dubai, the tournament will be played every week with the first games scheduled for June 14.

Matches will be played between 19:00 and 22:30, while players, open to women only, should be 18 years and above, although Duplays will accept 16 and 17-year-olds providing they have parental permission.

As UAE’s biggest sport and social club with over 5,000 members, Duplays knows a thing or two in organising leagues and tournaments.

Their portfolio includes volleyball, football and badminton and it’s no surprise that netball has been a huge success.

“This is the third time we are staging the Netball Ramadan Cup which is widely popular among our players,” said Kris Belen, league administrator at Duplays.

“We hold four leagues during the season and players of all abilities whether they are beginners or experienced join in.

“And with the leagues being a success it’s a reason why we have launched and continued the Netball Ramadan Cup.”

Team spirit: The Netball Ramadan Cup is hugely entertaining with attractive prizes on offer.

Teams, which must consist of no more than nine per squad, will be split into two groups and play one match a week.

The top sides will then advance to the knock-out stages with the final scheduled on July 13.

While matches will be “hugely entertaining and provide lots of fun”, teams can vie for attractive prizes including trophies and medals for the winners and runners-ups.

With less than two weeks remaining, Belen insists women should consider signing up.

“Before people fly back home for vacation, it’s a good way to experience what a great sport netball is,” she said.

“Hopefully they will be convinced to continue with it when we start our new seasons in September.

“The games will be lots of fun and the players go home with a smile on their faces.”

She added: “It’s also a good way keeping fit over the summer and playing sports at an indoor venue.

“This is the best netball league in Dubai and there are some fantastic prizes to win for those who sign up.

“Simply, there are plenty positives to gain from taking part.”
