  • In 1951 Joe Louis knocked out Lee Savold at Madison Square Garden.

    In 1951 American boxing legend Joe Louis fought Lee Savold in what was the first professional prizefight carried to theaters on closed circuit TV.

    The 'Brown Bomber' knocked out Savold in 2 minutes 29 seconds of the sixth round at Madison Square Garden in what was to be his last victory by KO.

    1948: Donald Bradman is out for a duck against England in the fifth Test of the Ashes series at The Oval. Australia still won the match by an innings and 149 runs to complete a 4–0 series win.

    1954: UEFA was founded in Basel, Switzerland after consultation between the Italian, French, and Belgian associations. Initially, the European football union consisted of 25 members which number doubled by the early 1990s.

    2011: Boston Bruins beat Vancouver Canucks 4-0 to take a 4-3 series win in the Stanley Cup finals.
