Organisers of the landmark fifth edition of Dubai Sports World (DSW) have urged the country’s sports fans to get their ‘Game On’ at the UAE’s largest indoor summer sports venue.

    – Top stars to feature in Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament

Running until August 29th, the multi-purpose DSW 2015 – organised in partnership with Dubai Sports Council – will cover more than 22,000 square metres of indoor, air-conditioned space at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Designed for both serious athletes and sporting novices of all ages, DSW 2015 boasts an action-packed 10-week schedule of traditional and extreme sports, social and corporate tournaments, and grassroots academies run by leading institutions from across the UAE and around the world.

DSW 2015 will also host a number of celebrity appearances following the announcement that Dubai Sports Council has contributed five Emirati sporting stars to act as ambassadors for the venue’s landmark fifth outing. The line-up includes UAE national team footballers, Ahmed Khalil and Habib Al Fardan; UAE national basketball team playmaker, Talal Musabbah Mater Al Dhaheri; UAE national handball player, Abdullah Al Baloshi; female badminton icon and local sports pioneer, Mona Al Sahlawi; Egyptian Hesham Kamel, a Parkour and Street Workout instructor for UAE-based urban movement organisation, Against GraviTi; and RAGE Team Skate Riders, Lawrence Jokum and Kareen Nassar.

With record bookings for pitches and courts driving pre-opening optimism, organisers believe attendance this year will trump the 175,081 figure set over 80 days last summer: “Dubai Sports World is now widely known as the city’s leading indoor summer sports facility,” said Ahmed Alkhaja, Senior Vice President – Venues, DWTC.

"With our daytime academies filling substantial off-peak booking slots, our sales numbers illustrate the public’s affection for the venue and its multi-purpose offerings. We are expecting another record-breaking summer at Dubai Sports World.”

Whether individuals or groups are extreme sports enthusiasts, football fanatics or basketball buffs, the expanded sporting options at this year’s DSW offer something for everyone.

In addition to brand new activities such as a dedicated Parkour, Street Workout and calisthenics arena provided by Against GraviTi, and DSW’s first-ever elevated Wire World Park of obstacle, bridges and bungee trampolines, the remodelled state-of-the-art gym by TechnoGym will feature world-class weights and fitness equipment alongside dedicated fitness and cycling studios for group classes operated by Fitness First.

DSW will also play host to perennially popular four 5-a-side and four 7-a-side football and rugby pitches, four basketball courts, an Olympic-length 400-metre running track, two tennis courts, six badminton courts, a mini cricket wicket and a volleyball court.

An expansive skate-boarding and BMX park designed by extreme sports and recreation retailers, RAGE, will boast ramps, rails, pipes and verts, while DSW will also roll-out its largest and most diverse roster of summer camps products to date across football, basketball, tennis, skateboarding and BMX, cricket and many, many more.

DSW is organised in association with Dubai Sports Council and features an impressive roll-call of leading local authorities and international lifestyle partners.
