It was a day of drama in Mohali which came close to the memorable Kolkata Test in 2001, with India having one day and 17 overs to chase 216.

It looked easy at the start of those 17 overs on day four, but by stumps India were 55 for 4. Things got worse for the hosts as by lunch on the final day, another four wickets fell.

With more than a 100 runs to win, VVS Laxman and Ishant Sharma were faced with a huge task. The pair frustrated the Australians but the visitors found the breakthrough, Sharma falling with 11 just needed.

Laxman, struggling with a back spasm, had a runner, Suresh Raina and along with last man Pragyan Ojha, got the singles as India won by a wicket.

1957: Led by Dai Rees, the Britain and Ireland Ryder Cup team beat America at Lindrick to register their first win since 1933.

2004: Arsenal’s new home is named the Emirates Stadium after the club signed a 15-year deal with Emirates Airlines.

2009: Australia retain the Champions Trophy with a six-wicket win over New Zealand at Centurion.

2014: Marussia’s Jules Bianchi suffers a fatal crash at the Japanese Grand Prix, and remains in a coma until his death on July 18, 2015.
