  • It’s never fun to see players go down with injuries, but part of being successful at fantasy football is knowing how to take advantage when a back-up gets an opportunity after the starter goes down.

With that said, here are five players who are usually on your bench or on the waiver wire that you should insert into your lineup for this weekend’s games.

    LATAVIUS MURRAY

The situation couldn’t be better for the Minnesota Vikings running back this week, with starter Dalvin Cook out with a hamstring issue and the Buffalo Bills on the schedule.

In just two games, Buffalo have allowed five different running backs to gain at least 90 total yards, all while surrendering six touchdowns. They’re also giving up the most PPR (points per reception) points to opposing running backs in the AFC this year, which means Murray could have a field day as both a runner and receiver.

It’s not just the Bills’ defence that is a mess though. Buffalo’s offence is scoring the second-fewest points in the league (11.5), which bodes well for Murray’s game script, i.e. the Vikings should be ahead for much of the game and feel comfortable continually handing off the ball.

    COREY CLEMENT

Another running back who should have a bigger workload due to injuries is Clement, now first in line for looks with Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles out.

Clement himself is dealing with a quad injury and is questionable for Sunday’s clash against Indianapolis, but if you don’t mind taking the risk that he sees limited snaps, he could pay off in a big way.

The Eagles will also be without several wide receivers, so Clement has a chance to shine in the passing game for the returning Carson Wentz as well.

    CALVIN RIDLEY

The Atlanta Falcons rookie wideout had a forgettable debut in Week 1, but looked like a key contributor in the offence in his second game, in which he hauled in four receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Though he’s not the starter opposite Julio Jones – Mohamed Sanu is ahead of him on the depth chart – Ridley is the second-most talented pass-catcher on the team and should see the field plenty in three-receiver sets.

This week, he gets a delicious match-up against a struggling New Orleans secondary, who are giving up the most PPR fantasy points to wide receivers in the league.

    WILL DISSLY

If you’re looking for a streaming option at tight end, the Seattle Seahawks man is your best bet – if he hasn’t already been scooped up off the waiver wire.

Seattle’s offence has been rough to start the season, but Dissly has stood out with 147 total receiving yards and an end-zone visit in each contest.

He gets a more-than-favourable match-up against Dallas this week, with the Cowboys having been burned by pass-catching tight ends.

    BLAKE BORTLES

Don’t expect the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback to light it up quite like he did last week, but he could thrive again, especially if Leonard Fournette is out.

If the starting running back – who is questionable with a hamstring injury – sits out again, that bodes well for the Jaguars’ aggressive play-calling. When the offence doesn’t have Fournette to lean on, they haven’t been shy about putting the ball in Bortles’ hands.
