  • Champions: Our Own English High School Sharjah

Captain Ayaan Khan led from the front as Our Own English High School Sharjah defeated DPS Dubai by 55 runs to win the Under-12 Maxtalent Vision Cup.

Winning the toss, Our Own English High School batted first and Khan took charge by hitting 65 runs off 56 deliveries and along with a quick-fire 24-run knock off Madhav Nair, saw them reach a competitive total of 143-5 in their 20 overs.

DPS Dubai would have fancied their chances of chasing the scores especially after Ayaam Verma and Aradhya Dubey put on a opening stand of 261 in their first game. But they struggled to make an impact when it mattered. Verma was two runs short before falling for 48 while Sreeram Veera hit 17 as Aryan Saxena took the batsmen apart with figures of 4-15.

There was more reason to celebrate for Khan after he was adjudged Player of the Tournament after scoring 284 runs and taking seven wickets in four matches.

Mayank T. from GEMS Millennium Sharjah was named best bowler with 10 scalps, while Verma won the best batsman accolade with 297 runs.

It was also the first time that Maxtalent trialled their new rule of allowing all 14 players to feature in a match. And head coach Sudhakar Shetty was delighted with the feedback it got from players and coaches.

“Maxtalent Global Sports have been the pioneers when it comes to innovation of the game and the 14-member playing rule has yet again proved to be a move which will not only enhance and optimize the full strength of the team but also provide opportunity to all,” he said.
