You have until Saturday if you want to take part in the second edition of the JLL Triathlon on December 13.
Taking place at the iconic location of the Jebel Ali Golf Resort in Dubai, the swim will be in the sea, followed by a bike ride on the open roads outside the resort before the participants end the race with a run around the resort.
Anyone from 11-years and above can compete, with organisers Race M.E setting nine different age categories. The Super Sprint has five different sections; junior (11 to 14-years), youth (15 to 18), open (19 to 39), vet (40 to 49) and super vet (50 and above). All consist of a 375m swim, a 10km bike ride and a 2.5km run.
For those who have plenty of experience in triathlon and want to test themselves further, there is the Sprint category.
With four different sections – youth (15 to 18), open (19 to 39), vet (40-49) and super vet (50 and above), the triathletes will undertake a 750m swim, 20km bike ride and a 5km run.
The first edition of the series drew hundreds of people, and the organisers are expecting a similar turnout.
“Our October race was a huge success with it being sold-out three or four weeks before the event,” said Paul Venn of Race M.E.
“With two weeks remaining until the race the odds are that this will be another sell-out which is great from an organiser’s perspective.
“The Jebel Ali Golf Resort is a great venue to do this triathlon as they hold many triathlons throughout the year.
"People will find the venue very safe in well controlled areas and there will be a great atmosphere,” he added.
And with different age and ability categories, it’s a great opportunity for beginners to get involved.
“This is a triathlon for anyone to enter,” said Venn.
“For beginners, the distances of the swim, bike ride and the run are very do-able. We get plenty of people who are new to triathlons and at the end of the race, they say they’ve thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“It’s just taking part in a fun and enjoyable sport. People would look at a triathlon and think it’s for the serious sportsperson but that’s not the case.
"When I first competed in a triathlon, I hadn’t swum for 20 years. Triathlon is a very addictive sport and people will realise how much fun it is for those who take part.”
