  • Which coach do you see taking over?

The Los Angeles Lakers fired Byron Scott Monday, ending his wildly unsuccessful run as the head coach of the NBA’s most storied franchise.

Scott was at the helm of the Lakers’ worst two seasons in history as the team finished 17-65 this past year and 21-61 in 2014-15.

LA will now compile a list of coaching candidates and have interest in the following four names, according to reports:

    LUKE WALTON

The former Laker, who played under Phil Jackson, is the only one of the four names currently coaching as an assistant on Steve Kerr’s staff in the Bay. He showed a steady hand and his capability while Kerr was out.

    KEVIN OLLIE

The University of Connecticut coach and former player has a strong relationship with Kevin Durant, which could be all the reason the Lakers need as they try to chase the superstar in free agency this summer.

    JEFF VAN GUNDY

A coaching veteran with plenty of experience, even though he’s been a commentator since 2007. His New York Knicks reached the NBA Finals in 1999 and Van Gundy boasts a career winning percentage of .575.

    ETTORE MESSINA

Considered one of the top assistant coaches in the league, the European legend has learned from the best under Gregg Popovich. He may not be the most recognisable name, but could be LA’s best long-term bet.
