  • Crowd favourite Tom Daley of Great Britain will head the charge for the men’s 10m platform gold.

The superstars of world diving will arrive in Dubai in just over a weeks’ time, ahead of the second leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2015 which will be held at the Hamdan Sports Complex from 19-21 March.

This year’s event will feature a stellar line up of world champions and Olympic champions from around the globe including China, Great Britain, Russia and the USA.

Spectators at the event in previous years were treated to superb performances as the world class divers battled it out for gold in each of the finals. This year the competition is promising to be just as tough, particularly as this year’s series is a key component in the divers’ preparation for the FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia, in July.

Crowd favourite Tom Daley of Great Britain will head the charge for the men’s 10m platform gold. Daley captured the world’s attention as a 15 year old when he won the gold medal in the 10m platform at the 2009 FINA World Championships. After battling injuries in 2013, Daley has returned to form, finishing third overall in the 2014 FINA/NVC Diving World Series (10m).

Daley’s biggest competition in the 10m platform will be Olympic Gold medallist David Boudia of USA, and China’s Olympic silver medallist and current World Champion Qui Bo. Qui delighted the crowds in Dubai last year, performing a breathtaking perfect dive in the 10m final and scoring full marks from the judges.

The line-ups in every event will be equally spectacular, and in a new addition this year there will be competition for mixed teams in the 3m springboard synchro and 10m platform synchro.

“We are delighted to be welcoming the world’s best divers back to Dubai for the FINA/NVC Diving World Series. We were thrilled to witness an incredible display of diving in the last three Diving World Series events in Dubai, and with another line-up featuring multiple world and Olympic champions the stage is set for another superb event”, said Ahmed Al Falasi, President of the UAE Swimming Federation.

The 2015 FINA/NVC Diving World Series event consists of six legs and kicks off in Beijing on 13-15 March, then travels to Dubai, Kazan, London, Windsor (Canada) before the last leg in Merida (Mexico) on 29-31 May. Divers compete for points and prize money at each of the ten events, in the categories of 3 meter springboard and 10 meter platform in solo, synchro and mixed synchro diving.
