Stand-up paddling, wake-boarding and kayaking are just some of the fun activities on the agenda as the popular Splash @ Yas returns tomorrow (Friday).
Whether you’re a fan of water sports or just want to soak up the atmosphere, there’s something for everyone for what promises to be a great day out at Yas Marina.
Admission is free but for a small fee you can try some of the fun activities at a fantastic location in the capital.
The event has proven to be hug-ely popular among residents and visitors with more than 3,000 turning up for October’s second edition.
And it looks set to be another success, with organisers promising it will be bigger and better than ever before.
Open from 12:00, you can get to grips with stand-up paddling or kayaking for just Dh30 per person, where you will be guided by a qualified instructor in the 30-minute session.
For the adrenaline junkies, there’s a high-speed ride on an inflatable behind a speed boat – which is available for Dh50 for a 10-minute session.
Alternatively, for those who prefer to take it easy, then jump aboard the Abra and sail for half an hour around Yas Island for a fee of Dh100 per adult, while children will be charged Dh50. On top of that, visitors can enjoy the wide variety of games and entertainment for free at the ‘Splash Zone’.
The water sports activities also include sailing and waterskiing but there is plenty of entertainment on land.
Children can look forward to a variety of fun-filled activities with an inflatable waterslide, a foam filled bouncy castle and water games all lined up during the day.
And during the evening, the kids can relax by watching a film which will run from 19:00 to 20:30.
With seven restaurants and bars serving delicious cuisine dishes, you will be spoilt for choice, while Café D’Alsace will be serving their buffet brunch from 12:00 to 16:00.
“Splash @ Yas is a hugely popular event in our calendar,” said Cedric Lerest, the general manager of Yas Marina.
“We created this event to allow residents and tourists to get first-hand experience of some of these water sports as it’s very popular in the UAE.
“Some people don’t’ feel comfortable to try these sports because it may be too hard for them to try. But we want to ease those fears and give them an opportunity to try something new and most importantly have fun.”
He added: “We want as many people to come to Yas Marina on Friday.
“Not only will the kids really enjoy themselves but adults also.
“The atmosphere will be amazing and you don’t have to be in the water to enjoy the activities as there will be plenty of other things to keep you occupied.”
