The programme has been ratified by His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the President of Dubai International Marine Club, during his recent visit to the DSC premises.

Sheikh Mansour, who was received by Mater Al Tayer, DSC Deputy Chairman and Saeed Hareb, DSC Secretary General, reviewed all details of the activity, which is the first of its kind in UAE.

It was during his visit that Sheikh Mansour had instructed to arrange a 24–hour walk activity to encourage the various classes of society to take part in.

The 90-kilometer long walk will start at Zabeel Park passing near several prominent Dubai landmarks, and will utilize the various walk tracks at parks and beaches.

Participants may join the 15 km, 30 km or 45 km walks according to their own capability. The walk activity will start early morning on Thursday, November 17 and will finish on Friday morning.

Tents will be located at rest zones to provide medical support and massage services for participants on 30, 60, 75 and 90-km mark.

This will be followed by a 100m race for those above 70 years of age.

Also on Friday, a 3.5km walkathon will be organized on the occasion of the World Day for Diabetic Control.

During his visit to Dubai Sports Council, Sheikh Mansour also visited Hamdan Bin Mohammed Sports Community Initiative Club, launched recently by DSC in collaboration with adidas. The Club offers consultation, advice and free medical tests for all classes of society.

Registration for the 24-hour walking will open later this week. Please call 04 5105555 for further details.
