Get ready to be pushed to the limits in a gruelling obstacle course as the popular Wadi Adventure Race (W.A.R.) returns for another edition next month.

The race will be held on Saturday, December 16 at Al Ain’s Wadi Adventure and you can see for yourself why it’s rated highly.

Since it was launched in 2012, W.A.R. has gone from strength to strength and next month’s edition will be no different.

“It gives us such contentment that Wadi Adventure Race series is in its 14th edition and the way the race has grown over the past five years,” said Tijo John, sales and marketing manager at Wadi Adventure.

“We started off with around 75 challengers in 2012 and since then the numbers has increased 10 fold in the series that unfolded. Being the pioneer of obstacle races in the UAE and having a natural terrain and largest number of military styled obstacles, W.A.R. has been in the limelight for all levels of fitness minded people.”

The event has three courses – 5k, 10k and 15k distances, depending on your fitness. The 5k is divided into three categories – ‘Above Average Fitness’, ‘Average Fitness’ and ‘Just For Fun’, while the 10k has ‘Above Average Fitness’ and ‘Extremely Fit’ categories.

For those who want to test themselves further, there is the 15k section with ‘The Longest Day’ and ‘Average Fitness’ categories.

Participants can look forward to tackling a course that will see them crawl, jump, climb and swim their way through various obstacles.

You still have time to sign up for the race with registration closing on December 14 but John insists not to wait too long to confirm your participation for the fun event.

“With six different categories to cater for the different fitness levels and running abilities, W.A.R. gives people a choice to go for the win or just complete the course and have fun,” John said.

“It sets up a fantastic atmosphere with many different groups cheering and helping one another complete obstacles and after the race a delicious buffet awaits to refuel the body while mixing with friends and telling tales of the personal adventure they had.”

He added: “On the day, each participant will be given a T-shirt upon arrival and a medal on completing the race which will be followed by a healthy buffet for all. Warm up session will be conducted prior to the race by renowned gym instructors and various sponsors will be present on our beach offering their services to the participants.”
