Baume & Mercier are world renowned for their watchmaking brilliance, while Capeland Shelby produced some of the most iconic cars of a cherished era for motorsport. Bring the two together and the result is naturally quite stunning.
Last year the first products of this happy marriage proved a roaring success – so much so that 12 months later we have a new release to savour. Inspired by the black and yellow and No15 of the Cobra CSX2128, this new muse has spawned two editions and four further limited editions (below).
Both main editions boast a 44mm stainless steel case. They also share the same dial and hands, including the central second hand with cobra-shaped counterweight.
The main differences between the Capeland Shelby Cobra 1963 (above, right) and ‘Competition’ version (right) are the finishing of the case and the strap. The regular edition features a black alligator leather strap with yellow edges, while the Competition edition has a black vulcanised rubber strap, with a yellow loop.
This second strap is made from the same material as the wheels of the race car. The beauty of the watch speaks for itself, while the story and heritage provided by Capeland Shelby makes this a truly special item. In honour of the car’s birth year, only 1,963 of each have been made. Don’t miss out.
