Puma may have arrived to the party fashionably late, but they’ve turned up in style.
The collared football boot has swept the market since Nike introduced the trend earlier this year. Adidas swiftly followed with their own iteration and now Puma have got in on the action with the evoTOUCH, which boasts some serious tech and upgrades to ensure they stand in a class of their own.
The evoKNIT upper is the most obvious feature and the plan with this boot to actually eradicate the need for a sock entirely.
According to Puma, gaining optimum control and touch of the ball is about getting as close a feel to it as possible. Now, you may be concerned it’ll cause blisters but inside the boot is Griptex patterns which provide “multi-directional grip and a reassuring fit”.
Discomfort while playing tends to come from your foot shifting, causing friction hot spots but the evoTOUCH has been constructed to ensure your feet stay locked in.
While Nike and Adidas have already gained a foothold when it comes to the collar trend, Puma are setting new precedents to take it a step further with the aim of starting their own barefoot revolution.
Using premium kangaroo leather, the thin upper allows for ultimate touch and feel of the ball – just try to avoid getting stamped on!
