We review this weeks latest releases.

Dubai’s Al Ahli FC unveiled its new home and away kits for the 2016-2017 season, integrating enhanced technology and design while maintaining the club’s iconic colours.

The new home kit with DriFIT technology features Al Ahli’s traditional red and black stripes in a gradient execution and a modern v-neck collar.

The Red Knights’ crest is proudly positioned with its well-established features: the horse’s head, the club name and “1970 Dubai”, symbolising Al Ahli’s powerful heritage.

This new design helps to create a sense of speed and energy, while simultaneously emphasising the strength of the torso.

The new short is in matching black, while the socks are red.

The away kit is a classic and sophisticated design, featuring a white shirt with hybrid v-neck and a monochrome version of the Red Knights’ crest.

“I am proud to display the Red Knights’ crest every time we play and the kit’s beautiful design reflects our on-pitch success and legacy,” said Al Ahli’s Ahmad Khalil. “The jersey also offers great comfort which helps us focus on achieving our goals on the field.”

Our verdict and how to buy...

  • Verdict: The kit is eye-catching, comfortable and is cutting edge. Ticks all the boxes for us.
  • Price: Dh 379
  • Where to Buy: Available on www.nike.com and in Nike stores across the UAE.

During the launch the of the kit, H.E. Abdullah Saeed Al Naboodah, Chairman of the board of directors of Al Ahli FC, said: “Our strong partnership with Nike is a testament to Al Ahli FC’s leadership and its commitment to innovation. I am confident that our team will remain to lead with the new kits and that our fans will continue to find pride in them.”

What makes the jersey special is the Nike’s Dri-FIT technology. It draws sweat away from the body to the exterior of the shirts and shorts, where it quickly evaporates. This allows players to perform at their best by remaining cooler, drier and more comfortable.

The laser-cut ventilation holes and mesh panels in key areas of the kit are designed to improve performance by increasing air circulation and helping regulate players’ temperatures.

The shirt is crafted using mesh fabric that makes up the full front and back panels of the shirt, increasing airflow and facilitating enhanced movement.

Al Ahli debuted their new home kit during the Arabian Gulf Cup on September 2 when they played Al Nasr.

The 2016-17 Al Ahli home and away kits are now available on nike.com and in stores. So hurry up and get your hands on the striking new kits to show your support for the Red Knights.

Puma's evoTOUCH range.

Puma may have arrived to the party fashionably late, but they’ve turned up in style.

The collared football boot has swept the market since Nike introduced the trend earlier this year. Adidas swiftly followed with their own iteration and now Puma have got in on the action with the evoTOUCH, which boasts some serious tech and upgrades to ensure they stand in a class of their own.

The evoKNIT upper is the most obvious feature and the plan with this boot to actually eradicate the need for a sock entirely.

According to Puma, gaining optimum control and touch of the ball is about getting as close a feel to it as possible. Now, you may be concerned it’ll cause blisters but inside the boot is Griptex patterns which provide “multi-directional grip and a reassuring fit”.

Information

  • Where to Buy: All Puma stores across the UAE and Puma.com
  • Price: From Dh330-1,250

Discomfort while playing tends to come from your foot shifting, causing friction hot spots but the evoTOUCH has been constructed to ensure your feet stay locked in.

While Nike and Adidas have already gained a foothold when it comes to the collar trend, Puma are setting new precedents to take it a step further with the aim of starting their own barefoot revolution.

Using premium kangaroo leather, the thin upper allows for ultimate touch and feel of the ball – just try to avoid getting stamped on!

We rate it: 9 out of 10: Comfortable, well designed and a marked difference in the ability to control the ball.

Puma Ignite Dual

The Ignite collection continues to engineer new designs and tech for mid and long-distance running. And Puma have built on their solid reputation with the latest addition to the franchise for both men and women with the all-new Ignite Dual.

The idea is to provide ‘duality in both function and style’ to ensure keen runners are given crucial flexibility and cushioning.

Featuring their signature Ignite Foam mid-sole, the shoe offers full length energy return, which in layman’s terms means the shoe compresses during landing and rebounding.

In addition, there’s graphic tees, shorts and jackets available for both sexes to ensure you’re covered from head-to-toe.

Puma, Women’s Gold Pack Collection

Increasingly we’re seeing women’s clothing slice through the boundary between casual and gym style apparel.

Information

  • Price: ‘The Fierce’ trainer Dh495
  • Where to Buy: Puma stores across the UAE and Puma.com

At the forefront of this is Puma and they’ve recently introduced the Women’s Gold Pack Collection, which consists of running, training and sportstyle apparel and footwear.

They’ve opted for a bold and chic colour palette, utilising gold, black and white to exude street sophistication.

Headlining the collection is the training shoe, ‘The Fierce’, which are worn by style icon Kylie Jenner, and the idea is to give every confident woman a bolder look for their high-intensity work-outs.
