  • Adidas unveils new boots.

In case you hadn’t realised the adidas Predator is no more. RIP 1994-2015. In it’s place come the German manufacturer’s two new boot designs: the ACE and the X.

The ACE15 is made for increased control on the field. A control web around the instep gives extra traction while the new stud configuration helps with stepovers as well as your overall touch. Soon to be worn by Mesut Ozil, James Rodriguez, Oscar, Manuel Neuer and Ivan Rakitic, they are the perfect boot for the midfielder.

The X15, on the other hand, is the ultimate weapon for the game’s most dangerous players. There is a compression fit around the ankle for superior support and fit and the boot itself is considerably more lightweight than it’s more robust stablemate.

A fragmented and lightweight design gives ultimate support during the most agile movements and the outer skin is made up of a complex three layered system that delivers comfort, protection and performance in any conditions.

With both boots to make their debuts in the Champions League final on June 6 between Juventus and Barcelona, adidas hope they have created two designs that can become as iconic and long-lasting as the Predator, in all its guises, did before them.

We rate it: 8 out of 10: Still early days yet but these are two simple boots (in a good way) with some clever features.
