  • Volcanic boots: Mercurial Vapor CR7 Savage Beauty.

Most La Liga goalkeepers already find Cristiano Ronaldo’s shots too hot to handle, but “volcanic” boots? That’s just unfair.

The Real Madrid star has unveiled his new range of footwear – Nike’s Mercurial Vapor CR7 Savage Beauty – which is inspired by Ronaldo’s volcanic homeland of Madeira.

The three-time Ballon d’Or winner grew up on the islands of Madeira – and the new boots feature lava-style print in homage to Ronaldo’s roots.

The boot is the first of ‘seven chapters’ that will be dedicated to the Bernabeu talisman with the latest indicative of the player’s style on the pitch named ‘Savage Beauty’.

Chapter two is expected to be unveiled early next year but this particular model will be available pre-sale via the Nike Football App later this week.

The series of new footwear will chronicle Ronaldo’s history from his childhood up until now, where the former Manchester United man is widely considered to be one of the greatest footballers of all time.

“Madeira will always be close to my heart,” says Ronaldo. “I’m so happy to represent my island all over the world.”

The lava graphic is made to accentuate the Portuguese international’s speed, while a new, smaller CR7 logo features on the heel.

Nike say this is their most intricate design and have collaborated with their expert artisans in Montebelluna in Italy to produce the striking embodiment of the island where the 30-year-old was born. A selection of apparel will also be available to purchase on release of the boots, including trainers and t-shirts.

Ronaldo has scored seven goals in his opening nine La Liga games, five in one match against Espanyol, and five in the Champions League and will be hoping his new boots can push him towards a third straight Ballon D’or.

We rate it: 9 out of 10: Stunning on the eye they’ll be sure to heat up the boot market.
Where to Buy: Available for presale on the Nike Football App and all Nike stores from October 31
Price: Mercurial Superfly Dh1,499 and Mercurial Vapor Dh1,099
