  • Andrea Pirlo with the new Nike Tiempo Legend 6.

Designed to improve movement at high speed and deftness of touch, the new Nike Tiempo Legend 6 is the latest success story to roll off the Nike production line.

Developed at the Nike head office in Portland, no stone has been left unturned in the creation of the latest Tiempo, a model that for more than 20 years has been favoured by elite players and amateurs alike the world over.

The Tiempo Legend 6 builds upon that legacy with innovative craftsmanship.

“Tiempo players start the attack,” said Nike Football Designer Vianney de Montgolfier. “We prioritise the touch and precision they depend on. With the Tiempo Legend 6, we challenged ourselves to work with legendary materials in a new way.”

Players are always searching for maximum comfort and the new internal cushioned cage offers just that, holding its shape and grooving the leather with minimal stitching.Another iconic element of Tiempo – the tongue – has been constructed to offer less distraction on the field.

The boot retains the silhouette’s traditional tongue aesthetic, while moving to a protective, affixed one-piece solution that is integrated into the laces.

The new version also includes a mixture of conical and bladed studs to enhance underfoot ball control, helping your foot move with more stability and comfort.

Further benefits to the boot include increased stability and support for the foot and padding around the Achilles to improve protection of the heel.

As a nod to the boot’s heritage, Tiempo is written boldly across the back of the heel, while the upper is premium leather – noted by a small symbol where the leather meets the heel counter – and features ‘All Conditions Control’.

One of the stars to depend on Nike’s pursuit of innovation is Bayern Munich and Germany international defender Jerome Boateng, who played a central role in the creation of the Tiempo Legend 6.

“The changes to the laces and the back-heel are my favourite features,” said Boateng.

“It makes the boot more comfortable when moving around the pitch.”

The Nike Tiempo Legend 6 looks better and it feels better than its predecessors, though it retains a familiarity; the traditional quilted stitching on the forefoot is instantly recognisable, while the comfort and the touch offered is supreme.

The Tiempo is a classic and Nike has done it again.

We rate it: 9 out of 10: Visually stunning, light on the touch and comfortable.
