  • McFarlane has put high demands on his team.

Pre-season for the UAE’s rugby teams tentatively begins this month and McFarlane is excited about Haddins and Vogue Fitness coming on board to lend their expertise to players throughout the club.

“The pre-season programme is incredible this year which everyone can access, including men, ladies and Under-19s,” said McFarlane, who will be going into his second season at the helm.

“Players, whether they’re here or on holiday, have access to an extensive strength and conditioning programme, including regular testing, supplemented by Haddins who are focusing on conditioning and Vogue Fitness on position specific strength work with their expert guidance and first class facilities.”

For McFarlane, the schedule is another example of Quins’ “one club” ethos, which is creating a real community hub at the capital club.

“Foundations have been embedded last season and I’m excited about next season with such a fantastic pre-season in place, family socials being planned and a very talented squad which will see us put out three teams again,” said McFarlane, who revealed there are also several changes on the coaching side.

“Our one club ethos really sets us apart. The managing and coaching team for the senior men has grown which gives the players even further care with great attention to detail,” he added.

“Mike Ballard will manage the 2nd XV and Richard Crofts the Barbarians. Both put in so much time at the club and will be involved in both junior and seniors. Alex Bailey has already been doing a phenomenal job as junior manager and has become club captain this season which is fantastic for our one club vision as we continue to integrate the senior players into junior training and tournaments.”
