  • Spotting talent: Dublin School Football Cup organisers

The second edition of the Dubai Schools Football Cup (DSFC) gets under way on January 31, promising to be bigger and better than ever.

Organisers have confirmed that there will be 2,000 children from 55 schools participating in this year’s competition that will be held at Dubai Sports City.

The tournament runs for six weeks and is divided into four sections – three for boys (U12, U14 and U16) and an extended group for girls.

CEO of Inspiratus Hussein Murad said: “The winners receive a once-in-a-lifetime, all-expenses paid trip to Manchester United.

“They will participate in a training camp delivered by Manchester United coaches and best of all, they get to watch the Red Devils’ biggest game of the season against arch rivals Manchester City.”

One man who knows how to spot and nurture talent is the Director of Spanish Soccer Schools, Michel Salgado, who is also the Director for the DSFC.

The 39-year-old former Real Madrid and Spain international said: “We are gaining so much from the Dubai Schools Cup.

“One thing is bringing values to the community through our kids because they are the thing that we love the most, and the second thing is giving them a future and an opportunity to chase their dreams.
