Sharjah Indian School won the toss and elected to bat first against the champions of Vision Cup 2013.

Sharjah Indian School lost early wickets thanks to some tidy bowling from pacer Hamza Khan who bagged 2 wickets for just 7 runs in his spell of 4 overs.

Young Shifran Mulla of Sharjah Indian School took responsibility to rebuild the innings and scored an invaluable 46 off 54 balls.

Along with Mohit MV, Shifran Mulla helped his team post a defendable total of 102 which was achieved at the cost of losing 8 wickets.

Our Own Warqas opener Abijith Kumar gave an early start of 17 runs but rising pressure from wickets falling from the other end and tight fielding led to his dismissal by Nihal Mohammad.

Nihal Mohammad displayed a type of aggression in his fast bowling spell that the spectators, his teammates and opponents linked it to the Wahab Riaz spell against Shane Watson in the World Cup quarter final.

Nihal Mohammad picked up 4 wickets for just 12 runs in the 4 overs and more importantly a spectacular catch running backwards of the dangerous Rishi Ramchandani, the skipper of Our Own Warqaa’.

The pressure was always mounting but Prateek Hirnandani did not compromise his aggressive style of batting in this situation and was difference between the two teams.

Prateek smashed 40 off just 29 balls to take the game as close as he could before being dismissed at a crucial juncture in the match.

With 9 wickets down and two overs to spare and 6 runs to get, number 11 Joel Menezes walked into bat and played in what he described as “the most important 6 balls he faced”.

Joel Menezes kept his cool and nudged around for intelligent singles and doubles to take his team past the finish line in one the most thrilling games of cricket ever witnessed at school level cricket.

Prateek Hiranandani was adjudged the MSG Player of the Match and Nihal Mohammad of SIS and Hamza Khan of Our Own Warqaa was handed over the MSG Promising Player of the Match award.

In another match, Indian High School Dubai one of the biggest cricketing powerhouses recorded a massive 154 run victory over new entrants Elite English School.

Indian High School Dubai batting first put on a total of 200 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs but lady luck did not smile upon 3 of their batsmen.

Opener Kunal Lachani, Lohith Chiluka and Clive Alfonso all three kicked themselves as they were dismissed for 49 individual runs.

However MSG Player of the Match Kunal Lachani commented, “It’s part of the game and more than our individual scores it is important to feel great about having contributed to the team and its victory.”

Abdullah Kwaja of Elite English School picked up 2 wickets but those wickets did not really harm the morale of IHS Dubai as they another accomplished batsman waiting for his turn.

In response Karan Menon was the only batsman who put up a fight as he scored 22 of the total 44 runs scored by Elite English School.

Sahil Sheik bowled a fiery spell as he picked up 3 wickets for just 6 runs in hi quota of 4 overs.

Medium pacer Kushal Deep too got into the action as he bagged 3 wickets for just 4 runs. Karan Menon and Sahil Sheik were awarded the MSG Promising player of the team award.
