The incredible American sisters, Serena and Venus Williams, will face each other in Saturday’s Australian Open showpiece, having last contested a slam final at Wimbledon in 2009.

44 – Saturday’s match will be the 44th grand slam final the pair have contested either together or against another player. It will be Serena’s 29th and Venus’ 15th.
22 – Serena’s current total of grand slam wins. She sits tied with Steffi Graf as the second-most decorated player of all-time. Margaret Court leads the way with 24, but 23 for Serena would be the best in the Open era.
7 – Slams won by Venus, the last being Wimbledon in 2008 when she beat Serena in two sets. Since then, struggles with Sjogren’s syndrome – an autoimmune disease – have slowed her down.
9 – Saturday will be the ninth meeting between them in slam finals, Serena leads that rivalry 6-2.

71 – Their combined aged – Venus is 36 and Serena 35 – make this the oldest women’s grand slam in the Open era, with Venus the oldest Australian finalist.
