  • Tennis fan: Sheikh Tamim bin Haman Al Thani has been enjoying Roland Garros.

There have been several interesting sightings here in Paris, but none more so than Sheikh Tamim bin Haman Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.

He has been here almost every day catching the tennis and was spotted in Philippe Chatrier with Nasser Al Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain and walking around the grounds with former Moroccan star Karim Alami.

Ex-France national team boss Raymond Domenech has also attended some matches and so has French judoka Teddy Riner, who actually interrupted Richard Gasquet’s match the other day by throwing a ball on court during a rally.

Gasquet was asked about it but didn’t dare say anything about the six-time world champion.

“He didn’t do it on purpose. And even if he did, I’m not going to say anything. No one would dare say anything,” said Gasquet.

“Yes, I saw that ball landing on the court from very high. It doesn’t happen every day. It was funny. No problem. It was not an important point, anyway.”

    Djoker's a linguist

Novak Djokovic revealed he speaks six languages and that he loves to learn the basics of the language of any country he visits, which he considers common courtesy towards local fans.

He was later asked how he would feel the day his younger brother Marko plays him in a tournament and beats him.

The world No2 said: “I hope this day comes, to be honest. I really do.

“What I’m going to do? I’m going to hug him, kiss him, and say ‘yes, you’ve done it’. I would love this day to come.”
