  • There was a three-hour rain delay on Wednesday thanks to some terrible weather in the capital, and the players on schedule had no idea when they were going to get on court.

With lots of down time, you wonder how the players wait out the rain.

In the Players’ Lounge, Rafael Nadal was spotted chilling with none other than the opponent he was due to play later in the day – David Ferrer.

The Spanish pair were seen hanging out with Toni, Nadal’s uncle and coach, and retired ex-world No1 Carlos Moya.

Eugenie Bouchard and Maria Sharapova both made strong statements about the tour not being a place to make friendships, but a quick look at the men’s paints a different picture.

Nice to see that things aren’t that intense in the world of professional tennis across the board.

    Sealed with a kiss
Andrea Petkovic was asked whether she was superstitious or not and whether there was a specific reason she kissed her racquet after making the semifinals.

“I never kissed my racquet before in my life. I don’t know what happened to me. I was just overwhelmed by emotion. I had no boy to kiss, so I kissed my racquet, right?” the German playfully responded.

Petkovic gained lots of popularity years ago when she started doing a “Petko-dance” on court after her victories.

For those wondering if the Petko-dance will return now that she’s back to her winning ways, the answer is unfortunately no.

“I just didn’t feel like doing it anymore. It started off as something spontaneous and fun. It wasn’t spontaneous anymore, and that’s why I stopped it,” she explained. “It was a thing when I was young and when I was kind of more careless.”

    Tough crowd to please
It’s no secret the French are a tough crowd but this past week, they have been incredibly brutal, booing anything and anyone.

They even booed the MC the other day while he was announcing the order of play. If booing was an Olympic sport, the French would definitely sweep all the medals.

Funny enough though, the crowd burst into applause midway through the women’s quarter-final on Court Philippe Chatrier when the sun finally appeared after it had been raining all day.

They may boo everyone but at least they clap for the sun!
