  • Feeling for the Heat: Murray is known to be a big Miami Heat fan.

When you walk into a press conference with a player who just won 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, you know you’re going to run out of questions regarding the match rather quickly.

Lucky for us, Andy Murray is the ultimate sports geek and he was nice enough to give us his thoughts on the latest happenings in the world of sport.

Murray, who spends a lot of time in Miami, where he owns a flat, is a Heat season ticket holder and he weighed in on LeBron James opting out of his contract.

“I hope he stays in Miami,” said Murray.

“There’s no guarantees he’s going to leave just because he opted out of his contract. I guess we’ll just have to wait a few weeks.

“But my season tickets last for another year or two, so ideally I’d rather he stayed.”

The Scot was also asked, as a football fan, what he thought about Suarez biting yet another player,” said Murray.

“I don’t think you look at that as a football fan. It’s just wrong. I just think it looks really weird seeing a person bite someone else. I just don’t see how that would come into your thinking.

“Well, obviously he’s not thinking clearly at the time. There was obviously something not quite right there  I think it’s the third time he’s done it now.”

And that was Sports Centre with Andy Murray, who will be back with more in a couple of days.

    Tennis of another kind

Meanwhile, Ernests Gulbis congratulated us, the press, when he walked into the interview room mocking us for showing up in bigger numbers after a loss than after his first round win.

The Latvian was then asked a question about him reportedly losing his French Open semi-finalist earnings playing blackjack and he immediately interjected saying: “That’s bulls**t.

“I went to play blackjack, but there was no word how much I won or how much I lost. They asked me how much I lost. I said ‘a lot’. I was joking. I was smiling. Next day in Latvia they say I lost all my winnings. My mother sends me a message next day asking (about it). Maybe I’m a little bit crazy, but I’m not stupid.”

The press conference then took a lighter turn when Gulbis was asked about his conversation about art Azarenka told us she had with him.

“We had a nice dinner. She didn’t tell you how she lost to me in table tennis? She bragged all evening about how good she is in table tennis, but then I showed her who is the true tennis table champion,” said Gulbis.

The table tennis match took place in the basement of Azarenka’s house at Wimbledon. Who knew those two were so tight? Gulbis explained they are old friends.
