  • Lethal speedster: Lavezzi (l) with fellow Argentine forward Lionel Messi (r).

After missing out France International Loic Remy, Liverpool are now targeting PSG striker Ezequiel Lavezzi for £18 million.

Lavezzi scored nine goals in 32 Ligue 1 appearances last term and has notched seven goals in 19 Champions League matches since he joined the club for £24 million from Napoli.

Remy was initially going to be Suarez's replacement but the deal collapsed after he failed a medical.

Lavezzi would be available if Paris St Germain sign his compatriot Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid. The French champions were sanctioned by UEFA for breaking the Financial Fair Play in May.

This hasn't stopped PSG from spending carelessly.

They have recently signed David Luiz from Chelsea for £50 million so the Di Maria deal will mean they have no choice but to sell a star player like Lavezzi or Edison Cavani.
