The Nextcare Vets squad is two wins away from securing a perfect record in the group stage of the Corporate Football League at the Dubai Sports City Football Academy.
A 3-0 win against Pepsico and a 5-2 success against Falcons FC in the latest round of matches means the Vets side has eight wins from eight matches and a haul of 24 points.
The Nextcare Vets are one of four sides to have booked their spot in the last eight with time to spare.
"The effort of the Vets, in particular, has been stunning," said Dubai Sports City Football Academy Director of Football, Michel Salgado. "To go through the tournament unbeaten so far has been remarkable because this tournament is very competitive."
From the same group Dubai Sports City Football Academy have done likewise thanks to a record of seven wins and just one loss at the hands of the Vets.
In Group A DMI and Lukoil are also through to the knock-out stages, with DMI topping that section with 22 points, three clear of its nearest rivals after successive 3-2 wins over the HP Dragons and Leo Pharma.
“It is all set up beautifully for the final week of league action in the Corporate Football League at the Dubai Sports City Football Academy," added former Real Madrid legend Salgado.
"A host of sides will be battling it out for the last four spots in the quarter-finals and that is certain to produce some frantic action."
It all means that four places are still up for grabs when the final stages of the group phase take place next week.
