  • Clear winners: Young Souk Choi and David De Angelo won by a margin of two shots.

Young Souk Choi and David De Angelo combined well to take the top honours at the Emirates Palace Ramadan Open 2014.

Despite the heat, as many as 35 teams took to Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club’s Championship courses for two days of fierce competition.

The 36-hole Pairs Better Ball Stableford competition teed off at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, the Gary Player-designed Gulf’s first beachfront course, before swinging over to Abu Dhabi Golf Club’s National course, permanent host venue of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, for the decisive final day.

Choi and De Angelo, the eventual champions, demonstrated impressive consistency to finish with an overall score of 89 points. That gave them a two-shot winning margin, the coveted Ramadan Open trophy and a two-night stay in Emirates Palace’s luxurious Khaleej Suite for each winner.

The race for second and third position proved a tighter affair, with Konstantin Zoebalas and Paul Stent carding 87 points, and Jung Bin Kim and Jung Hyeok Kim narrowly missing out with a respectable 86 points.
