  • Luxury drive: Weekly winners get a chance to drive a Cadillac for a week.

Playing a level of golf that would have put many professional golfers to shame, Pontus Fredriksson won the Cadillac Golf League Series for the second time in three weeks.

Fredriksson got his numbers right most of the time in the third leg of the new series, which is played every Monday at the Faldo course of Emirates Golf Club.

The 39-year-old Swede, who plays to a handicap of +1, made eight birdies in his final gross score of three-under par 69.

Fredriksson made four nett bog-eys, but his biggest mistake was a nett double bogey on the par-4 fourth hole, which brought down his final score to a nett six-under par under the Erado Strokeplay format.

It wasn’t a cakewalk for Fredriksson, as Peter Mulholland and Yeves Heye also finished on the same score with gross rounds of 79 respectively, but the Swede reigned in a countback.

The league, backed by Cadillac, has its next event on Monday, September 22.

Anybody is welcome to join, but they need to have an official EGF handicap of at least 20 to play.

The format is Erado Strokeplay, under which four bad holes can be erased (changed into nett pars) from the total score. The decision to erase must be made before opening play on the next hole. Scores on the ninth and the final 18th hole cannot be erased.

Players will also receive points based on their finish in each tournament and the top 40 players will be invited to play in the Cadillac Golf Cup Finale on December 15. The winner of the Cadillac Golf Cup will be given a pro-am spot in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, of which Cadillac is the official car.
