Harvesters set to face Diwans in KPL opener

     Defending champions AGL-Con­cord Group Palakkad Harvesters will open their CSS Group Kerala Premier League (KPL) title defence against Capital CMC Kochi Diwans on Friday, October 17.

    Now in its third edition, a total of 37 matches will be played at the ICC Academy in Dubai, with the winners picking up Dh125,000 – the biggest prize money in the history of the competition. The runners-up will bag Dh60,000 for their efforts in the tournament, sanctioned by Dubai Sports Council.

    The 12 teams have been split into two groups, with two of UAE’s lead­ing domestic clubs, Danube Idduki Spices and last season’s runners-up Yogi Group Thrissur Dynamites, clashing in a Group A encounter on Friday, October 24.

    In Group B, AGL-Concord Group Palakkad Harvesters will also have to face Seven Seas Trivandrum Royals and One Stop Tourism Kol­lam Kernals, as they bid to retain their title.

    Each team will play five group matches with the top four qualify­ing for the quarter-final knock-out stages on Friday, November 14. The final is scheduled for Friday, November 21.
